A 9-year-old girl known only as Dafne has given birth by Caesarian section on Jan. 27 in Zoquipan Hospital in Jalisco, an area in western Mexico. She was reportedly unaware that she was pregnant until her seventh month. Dafne was delivered of a 5.7 pound healthy baby boy. Both mother and child are at home and healthy, Dr. Enrique Rabago, director of Zoquipan Hospital, said at a press conference on Feb. 6.
"The girl was just over eight when she got pregnant. The father is a boy who is 17, but we have not found him, since he ran away," Dafne's mother says.
And the world gets stranger!
