May his soul rest in perfect peace

On the 14th of April, 2015, I lost my dear father. He was 83 years old.
He was the best dad anybody could have - genial, generous, loving, jovial and supportive. He was a father to many, a most wonderful and good person, an honest and principled man. He was a knight of the Methodist Church, Nigeria having contributed immensely to the institutions of the church - the Choir, the Youth Club, the Boys Brigade and so many others. I often describe him as God's Graphic Designer.

A professional graphic artist he designed many of the institutional logos and brand assets of the Methodist Church and African Episcopal Church, his maternal church, including some of the regalia of the clergy of these churches. What many do not know is that when Nigeria modified the superscription on her coat of arms from "Unity & Faith" to "Unity & Faith, Peace & Progress" it was Daddy Alder who did the graphics. For many years he designed the calendar of the Federal Republic. He was an incorruptible civil servant at the Federal Ministry of Information for 35 years.

Daddy Alder was the President of the Alder Descendants Family Union, the President of Ipinlaiye Campbell Descendants Union and the Vice Chairman of Jakande Chieftaincy Family.

He has left a void so big the ache occasioned by his demise cannot be defined. What a loving man he was! But in the words of scripture, he was satiated with age and the memory of the just is blessed.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by the family soon. He is survived by his children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and so many who called him father.

Thank you.

Leke Alder
