Don Jazzy Denies beating up Socialite

On January 8, 2013, it was reported that the Mavin Records CEO had been accused of ordering thugs to beat up Princewill Ifeanyi Ojukwu on December 21, 2012.

Entertainment reporter Stella Dimoko Korkus claimed Ojukwu, the former manager of Auto Lounge Nightclub and Don Jazzy exchanged words at his (Don Jazzy’s) night club, POP in Victoria Island, Lagos, after which the popular producer reportedly asked ‘his thugs’ to ‘take his life’.

Ojukwu claimed he was brutally beaten and stripped Unclad under the supervision of Don Jazzy, and suffered blunt force trauma to the eye, face and body, forcing him to be admitted into a hospital.

He also alleged that a week after the incident, Don Jazzy sent him a text apologizing for the attack and offered to pay for his hospital fees, which he refused.

‘It’s not about the money. This could happen to anyone, it is abuse of power and needs to be checked before someone is killed all in the name of the other being a celebrity. Don Jazzy stood there pinging on his blackberry as his thugs beat me up, that is the last thing I remember before I fainted‘, Ojukwu said.

But Don Jazzy’s camp has told Nigerian Entertainment Today the story isn’t true. ‘Don Jazzy didn’t order anybody to beat anybody up. ‘These accusations are absolutely false,’ a rep for Mavin Records told NET in a telephone conversation.

He didn’t go into details, saying the matter is now being investigated by the Police.

Princewill Ojukwu has already filed a petition against Don Jazzy to the Inspector General of Police in a letter dated December 28, 2012. The petition against Don Jazzy is for ‘attempted murder, stealing, unlawful destruction of property and assault, occasioning grievous bodily harm
