NEMA: More Floods coming, relocate!


NEMA (National Emergency Agency) has warned on more flooding, yesterday at a press conference in Lokoja, Kogi State, the NEMA Zonal coordinator, Abuja office said there might be more flooding resulting from release of water from dams in Cameroon and Guinea.
According to him, the anticipated flood is referred to as "black flood".


He advised residents yet to relocate from the banks of River Niger and River Benue to do so immediately.
Also according to him, 400 communities in Kogi have been submerged by floods so far and about 3,647 people were rescued in Ibaji Local Government before it was totally submerged by the flood.
NEMA has asked international agencies like Red Cross and Red Crescent for help.
Residents living in such areas should please relocate so we can avoid having another round of tragedies.
